David Holmgren is an Australian environmental designer, ecological educator, and the co-originator of the permaculture concept alongside his mentor, Bill Mollison, in the late 1970s. Best known for co-authoring the groundbreaking book Permaculture One (1978) and formalizing the universal 12 Permaculture Design Principles, Holmgren’s lifelong work has centered on testing and refining sustainable, low-input systems that work in harmony with nature.
Midwest Permaculture is supporting their non-profit organization, Center for Sustainable Community, with the long-term establishment of a permaculture design upon their land. This project shows how the many permaculture design elements work together to create a sustainable ecosystem.
